The following outlines the yoga practise I share with students.
Each class starts out with the short sharing of teachings from the wisdom traditions. The focus is on the Yoga tradition, but I also draw on my experience with The Fourth Way, Buddhism, Integral Life Practise, Western Philosophy and Reiki Teachings. Out of the teachings a theme develops and one or two qualities useful to cultivate emerge. We begin the class by chanting a short invocation together to center our attention and connect with present moment awareness.
During the main body of the class, the asana practise, the theme is interwoven with the technical instructions for the poses, breath practise, present moment awareness and encouragement is given to more deeply and directly experience the teachings and the energies of the body mind.
The class ends with a meditative savasana practise and self acknowledgement of ones efforts to connect more deeply and celebrate the gift of ones unique presence in life.
Namaste,
Gary
